This pub has been in the 'Good Beer Guide' for 18
years, proving that good quality ales and beers, joined with a decent crowd of human
beings on both sides of the bar is a magic combination that seems to escape the
understanding of the majority of brewery owned places which the breweries themselves are
perceptive enough to describe as 'outlets'. The Cellar Bar is as it says in a cellar below
a bistro. Although it doesn't do food itself you can bring down the bistro food. The ales
are constantly changing but on at the time were: Belhaven 80/-, Orkney Dark Island, Aviemore Wolfe's Brew, Exmoor Gold, Broughton Brewer's Gold, Inveralmond Lia Fail,
Harviestoun Mayfest, Wychwood Howzat. A total of over 600 Real Ales have been presented in
the last two years alone from across the country and they also have regular mini beer
festivals. A selection of foreign bottled beers are also available. Also note
the bars copper top was salvaged from the Oceanic, a White Star Liner.
