Beers: Bateman's XB,
Bateman's Dark Mild, Batemans XXXB. All were well kept and cheerfully
pulled. Cheers to the cellarmaster! Cousin Tim and I arrived tired
form our journey and in need of a few days rest. The folks at the Vine
treated us like life long friends they had not seen in a few years. Darts
with Jane! Unpretentious decor and a comfortable feeling surrounded every
aspect of our stay. Food served until 9pm if my memory serves me correct
(the pints were in need of frequent quality sampling). Not an undersized
portion to say the least. The time spent at the vine on our real ale hunt
was the highlight of our time in the UK. Breakfast was quite yummy too. My
return trip will include a stay at The Vine once again. The Staff was
tops. Hospitality superb. The world would be a nice place if everywhere
was like The Vine. Breakfast 7 to 9-ish. Accommodation was a lovely
haunted room. As nice as any Hilton or Embassy Suites I have stayed at,
but with old world charm and care. Top score. Best about the Vine: The
setting and the pleasant and helpful staff, and the pride in their history
of place. Worst: The stables need a sprucing up. (Stephen Hammerstone
