Set back from the road, you can easily miss it at night and if travelling at speed, so slow down as you approach the village. This pub is close to the M40 and close to the local airport, so it is a favourite of those with stories to tell. From the outside it has a definite 1970s feel, but that shouldn't put you off if you know about beer as it serves up to 6 ales including its regulars. All these beers are well kept and served, though they all have the same price of £2.50. The two bars split public to the left and lounge to the right. The lounge has a fireplace - for decoration - and carpet. The small wood strip bar is to the left and has three hand pumps - the rest are in the public bar. There are stools for sitting at the bar which when busy is unfortunate but part of the rural life of a pub where regulars like to sit at the bar. Other seating is at tables, mainly for two people, though there is alternative seating available. The decor is very local with pictures on the walls and brass. The public bar has a pool table and bare floor and you can wear wellies here. The toilets are by the front door and are heated in winter! They are also very clean and tidy. Car parking is out front and an overflow is available at the rear. No accommodation here.
