The interior of the Bear Hotel has very traditional decor. There is limited disabled access. An interesting bar with 131 whiskies. Beers on sale were Marstons Pedigree 4.5% @ £2.06 and Mansfield Ridings Bitter 3.5% @ £1.80. Both were looked after. To eat there is a good choice served with real home made bread, not sliced. Lots of choice, and large portions. Lunch time food (12-2) about £3 to £4 for main course. Night time food (7-9.30), bar or restaurant from about £5. Staff are friendly and the service informal. They also serve a great breakfast (7.30-9) - in conjunction with B&B: single from £25 not en-suite but good value at weekend with 2nd night half price. Accommodation is comfortable and spotlessly clean with nice extras. The hotel has a 4 diamonds rating. The best about the hotel is the friendly family and the worst is that it's noisy in the middle of town. I'd rate it 6-Something Special. Spotless toilets.
