A traditional country inn not far
from Shepshed and junction 23 of the M1 and just off the A512 past Lowwoods
Furnishings. Very much the heart of the community, the Storey has many of its
own to tell. You enter from the front into either the public bar to the left or
the lounge to the right - there is also a door direct to the car park from the
public bar. The public bar has a small bar that is the one likely to be open at
lunchtimes during the week - as this tends to be a dormitory village and is
deserted during the day. In here you will find the old wood bar with stools at
it where the friendly locals frequent. They sup their ale while the TV is on in
the corner, or play pool/darts at the far end. The seating here tends to be some
old chairs and mainly stools at round tables. There is a real fire here for the
winter, always lit at lunchtimes and well tended to keep it burning bright. It
has been noted elsewhere that the style is 1960s. The lounge bar is larger and
the bar back looks more fulsome. The seating here is also at round tables with
stools. It tends not to be used during the weekday and there is no heating on in
here - unlike the real fire in the public bar. The real ales on are usually
Pedigree and Landlord plus a guest. All are served with a sparkler, but you can
have that removed if you want. The mild on this occasion was in tip top
condition. There is a limited choice of other drinks for non beer/lager
drinkers. No food is served here unfortunately or it might become a lunchtime
stop for the local factory workers. For the summer there is a beer garden where
BBQ's are held. Occasional music is provided on Saturday evenings and there is a
beer festival held in mid-September.
