A single story brick
(inside) pub done out in Laura Ashley style with fake beamed ceiling. A pool table and
satellite TV can dominate at night. Mainly known as a food pub (sometimes you have to wait
40 minutes for a table), it does some good traditional and more esoteric grub. However,
there is little for the vegetarian. Prices are fair at around £5-£7. As for beers there
were four on but they were all from the nationals. Usually there is a guest beer, but not
on this occasion. Seating is at dark wood tables for two and six with matching dark
chairs. Towards the toilets there are high chairs/stool and tables to match. Toilets are
accessible by the disabled and are tiled floor to ceiling. Large car park with beer garden
and kids climbing frame. The station nearby is Gathurst.

Situated 400 yards from the railway station,
the Robin is easy to get to. From the outside this pub looks quite large, but
inside it is a cosy small affair. There are two rooms, but one bar serves both.
The main bar is to the right as you enter through the internal porch. Here you
will find a real fire - very hot for those sitting opposite - and black and
white Georgian style lattice bar with stools against it. Seating is a mixture of
padded bench seats and stools at thin-ish oblong tables. The walls are covered
with posters and pictures (Robin Hood features a lot obviously)
and of course rugby paraphernalia (the club is not far). The bar has a low
overhang and the bar back is covered with the pump clips of
guest ales, though
there was nothing from a micro on at this visit. All beers are served through a
tight sparkler, and you will get a funny look if you ask for it to be taken off.
The beer was in good condition and they opened up early specially for us as the
times in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide were very wrong! A small games room is off
from the bar where pool and darts are available. The other room with the
small bar is has bench seating again with tables and some chairs. Access to the
bar is very small, though you can be easily seen by staff. Food is served here
Thursday to Sunday only (check the picture below for times), last orders around
8.45 during the week, an hour earlier on Sunday. All food is home cooked and
they even make their own chips. Our advice is to find this pub at the weekend
when there is increased likelihood of a good guest ale being on, though check by
phone any other time. Access for the disabled is possible to the lounge bar with
help, but not to the toilets. No accommodation here.

| Additional Notes: |
The Robin Hood now offers 3
Guest Ales instead of two. The Robin Hood has recently changed hands, the
new owners are now Mark and Alison Hampson. There is no longer a Dart Board,
a Fruit machine now takes its place. The Food menu has been updated and
improved to include more great snacks and meals. The Robin Hood continues to
be the most friendly Pub in the area and continues to dish up excellent
quality food and a fantastic choice of both Cask and Real Ale Beers! (David
