Kings Arms Hotel
High Street
Malmesbury

A traditional coaching inn only 5 minutes walk
from Malmesbury Abbey, it has real fires in winter and access
for wheelchairs. There are two bars one with ground floor toilets and is traditionally
decorated with interesting beer pump clips. Recently the Kings Arms gained entry into the
good pub guide 1999. Beers on at the time were, B.O.B. Wickwar Brewery; Marstons
Pedigree; Wychwood Three Lions; Oakhill Golden Goal. Excellent standard of real
ale at very reasonable sensible prices. Obviously the Landlord looks after his
beer & cellar well. The pub does food and does a great range,
from bar snacks to á la carte menu - with really good value daily specials. The steaks
were excellent and they are well known for their fresh fish and seafood. Generous portions
at very reasonable prices. Staff are friendly, efficient and helpful too. Food is served
7 days a week, breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks in afternoon. Open from 7.30am -
9.30pm. Accommodation here was 8 bedrooms fully en-suite (tea/coffee) and newly
re-furbished and well maintained to high standard. The beds were exceptionally
comfortable, and there was a selection of complimentary products in the bathrooms. The cost is £35 single, £55-£60 double including one of the
best traditional English breakfasts you could eat. There is a rather narrow entrance to
the car park. Also due to popularity especially with business people during the week it's
quite difficult to book a room. Daily specials in restaurant sell out pretty fast so can
be disappointing. Worth a Diversion.

traditional building but have given guests everything they
need...fantastic breakfast.

All rooms are Double Beds but are let at single room rates. Dressing

best: Comfortable & Friendly...doesn't pretend to be anything
it's not, an old traditional Inn with modern day facilities, great staff,
very friendly proprietors, Bryan & Hilary. (Mrs Janet Foster) |

Recently
stayed at this establishment after reading review. Found the accommodation
to be comfortable and clean. All staff very obliging and helpful. But as
regards the evening meal we were served from the menu the main course
chicken in smoked bacon was fair, my wife's pork fillets in cream sauce
fair but the vegetables served were atrocious i.e. stale with the
cauliflower being rancid. On complaining to the management the attitude was
totally uncaring. We paid some £34.00 for the meal did not stay for
breakfast and would not recommend this establishment for evening dining. (15/5/04) |

Shower
didn't work properly. Landlady was drunk, landlord was rude, overbearing and
obnoxious. Worst stay in a hotel I've ever had in forty years. We didn't
stay for breakfast (Kate Hartas, December 2004) |
