This is a simple country pub famous for its real ales. The pub stands in a fine location on the edge of common land and is a popular destination for walkers in the Burnham Beeches area. There is a friendly atmosphere in the simply furnished single bar which has a real fire. The menu offers an excellent selection of value-for-money meals and snacks, and has a friendly family-run atmosphere. A while back they had an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest number of different ales served in one year, with over 600 different ones being served in 1997. Sadly this was overtaken by pubs elsewhere as they realised real ale drew people back to the pub. They even welcome dogs and offer them Chewy Bars available at the bar! No accommodation here. Access for the disabled is possible. The Blackwood Arms has a large beer garden with a horses field at the bottom. No juke box or games machines.
