This pub is signposted on B1155 and is an up market fashionable pub/restaurant/hotel in the centre of a delightful Georgian village just outside Kings Lynn. It's home from home for Paul Whittome who runs his inn with keen devotion, and his other passions for music and art are reflected in the regular jazz nights in the piano room and in local artists' work displayed in the galleried lounge on the first floor. Leading off from the flagstoned bar, where real ale and scrumpy is served chilled straight from the barrel, is the award winning restaurant. This recently refurbished room looks smart with its raspberry painted walls, waxed panelling and polished floorboards, tables with starched white linen and candlelit at night. It is here that serious cooking occures through an interesting set priced menu of two or three courses, proving excellent value for money for exciting quality dishes that are cooked with great flair and imagination. You can even email them to book 106504.2472@compuserve.com. There is accommodation here. 36 en-suite rooms (4-poster beds available). No children under 5. Prices start at: single £60, double £86 (double off-peak: £56 - £66. Conference facilities are also available.

An Oasis, hidden in the very centre of this small Medieval Town and Historic Port of Kings Lynn. The original building dates back to Victorian times when it was the private residence of a prominent Kings Lynn businessman. It is ideally situated and it would be hard to find a more pleasant place to stay since it is quiet and restful in its own grounds but yet very central. Close to the Walks Park and football ground, the hotel was refurbished recently. The bar is popular and has a good fire in winter. There are usually three ales on tap and these vary throughout the year.  I'm told there is a beer festival held here in July when they can have 15 or more ales on. Food is served here naturally in the Stuart Restaurant where the emphasis is on superb quality and good value. For the summer there are two gardens on either side, one of which is for residents only. If you like the bar a lot you can hire it for your wedding reception, or other functions. There is accommodation here (all en-suite) with all facilities. They also have regular music here, but check for details.

Website

The Tudor Rose is a free house and dates back to the 15th-century. It retains much of its original character and charm. There is an oak studded door which leads in to the pub and a small lobby lounge area and two bars, where real ale beers and informal bar meals are served. Ales on at the time were Woodfordes Wherry and Iceni Celtic Queen. The front bar has a high ceiling with beams and a large 'wheel' chandelier. The back bar has more room with benches around the edge - but it also has a juke box! Bar food is available here and is traditional and simple, but filling. Prices range from £1.75 for soup to £5.50 for scampi. The first floor restaurant is particularly striking with its exposed beams and whitewashed walls. You can order more extensive food (up to 9pm) here such as salmon, venison and steaks. Vegetarian meals available. No food Sunday evening. The restaurant is no smoking and sadly does not offer a way up for the disabled. Outside is a beer garden for the summer. Accommodation is available here, bedroom styles and sizes vary, but each room is well maintained and the more recently redecorated rooms look cheerful with their co-ordinated colour schemes. There are 13 en-suite rooms; single £30 - £38.50, double £50 - £60. Special Breaks available.
