The Chequers is set in beautiful countryside on the banks of the River Deben. The landlord serves a wide range of cask ales. In addition to snack and restaurant meals, there is a special menu in the bar including local sausages and ham with home-produced free-range eggs. This is a free house and there is good parking available and the pub welcomes coach parties. Children are also welcome and there is a child's play area. Dogs are also allowed. For the summer there is a beer garden. Beers on at the time were Greene King IPA, Adnams Southwold, and two guest ales, usually one from the Earl Soham brewery.
