Situated just 1 mile from the A14 between Newmarket and Bury St. Edmunds, this former coach house dates back to the 16th century and is rumoured to have once been a favourite haunt of the highwayman, Dick Turpin and king Charles and his visits to the famous house of ill repute Lilly Langtrees. Inside are two welcoming fireplaces. The Bell Inn serves food which is a mixture of traditional English and Mediterranean style - baguettes to steak. Food is served 12-2 7 days a week and 7-9pm Wed/Thu/Sun, 7-9.30pm Fri/Sat. There are two separate bar areas and a restaurant area to choose from. You can also eat in the no smoking area.There is also a rail station 200 yards from the pub. Wheelchair access to the pub is fine, but there are stairs to the bedrooms. The Bell Inn also does B&B @ £30 per person per night. Outside there is a beer garden which has fresh herbs and flowers including 'edible' ones.
