This large country pub has a small-ish brick lounge bar split by pillars. The ceiling and walls have beams half submerged in the bulging plaster. There is also a real fire to warm your bones in winter. There is plenty of seating here, mainly for food as there is an extensive menu (though vegetarian choices are limited). Prices range from £5.25 upwards, though sandwiches and baguettes can be had for cheaper. After a long period of closure this pub has now reopened fully refurbished as a Chef and Brewer. Redecorated, the layout has not been spoilt and the tiled floor remains. It is also recommended that you get here early if you fancy a lunchtime meal during the week as the office crowd pack the place out with reserved tables. There are at least five ales on, though the prices are high, up to £2.50 for a pint. The public bar is smaller and has a traditional atmosphere. Seating is more round back chairs and wooden floors. It has a children's certificate for families and a no-smoking area for those who prefer to live longer! In the summer sit in the garden and catch the rays. It used to be part of the Weather Oak in the 1930's and has been an inn for centuries. Disabled access is possible though there is a step to negotiate. No accommodation either, though you can pitch your tent if you ask.
