You can be sure of a great time when you want to relax and enjoy yourself here. Taste some of the worlds finest ales (like Ringwood 49r, Youngs Bitter, Hogs Back T.E.A , Hambledon Bitter) and good food. There is a large, south facing garden popular with the children with a play structure. For the adults there is a patio and vine covered pergola backing onto the Bourne stream. The pub was renovated in 2003. It's now a warm and inviting mix of old and new with terracotta tiles on the floor around the bar, plenty of wooden furniture, oak beams and supporting posts. There is cricket memorabilia on the re-exposed panelled walls and a roaring open log fire for colder times. The pub serves a wide ranging menu to suite all tastes and all ages (12-2.15, 7-9.30 Mon-Sat; 12-3, 6-8.30 Sun). You can eat anywhere you like and there is a no smoking section. All food is homemade. Relax in the pleasant atmosphere either inside this quaint English pub or in the gardens outside and large car parking area. You can also indulge in traditional pub games. Guest ales are well kept and vary by region. No accommodation here but try the Duke of Cambridge on East Street. The toilets have been modernized and there are disabled facilities. To reduce smoke they installed a ventilation system throughout the smoking parts of the pub.
A pub within walking distance of the railway station, that has recently risen to the fore in Farnham serving up to five real ales on handpump including Fullers London Pride and Hog's Back TEA as regulars. Over two years they served 500 real ales which gives you an idea of turnover and dedication to real ale. Food is served lunch and evenings but there is no food on Friday or Sunday evenings. There is accommodation here and it is of good quality with a full English breakfast. Outside is a beer garden for the summer with picnic benches.
A Shepherd Neame pub serving at least three ales from the range. Serving good food both lunch (12-2) and evenings (6.30-9) where you can sit and warm yourself by the real fire. They also do Sunday lunch from 12-3. Again, close to the railway station you can usually do both the Lamb and the Duke in one sitting. The beer garden is different, being a rooftop terrace one. Watch the world go by from here.
A rather horrible place to put a pub - on what is supposed to be the largest roundabout in Europe. This is a freehouse of the old school to the north of Farnham and serves eight guest ales at any one time. On this occasion were Hog's Back TEA, Hampshire 1066 and Gales HSB - all served well. Food is also served both lunch and evenings and children are allowed to eat as well. The choices are varied, at least one for vegetarians, but watch out for the ostrich steaks. There is a beer garden outside, but who wants to watch the traffic go by? Stay inside in winter and sit by the real fire. No accommodation here but try the Duke above. Also Try:
The Six Bells, 55 Hale Rd, Farnham, Surrey. Beer: 8 ales. Foo: lunch and evening. Open all day.
