Website

Set in a small town on the edge of the Gloucestershire hills, this pub started life in the 18th century as a farm cottage and still retains much of its earthy charm today. It was refurbished and extended in 1997 and has the look of a little museum with all the 'olde worlde' memorabilia around the walls. There are two distinct bar areas though there are many different drinking areas as the partition walls have only been half removed in height in places. Seating is bench seats around some windows and walls and around the real fireplace. There are also wooden tables and chairs. It can get busy and smokey of an evening and service at the bar is slow at times. Staff are friendly though and try to help if they can, though it can get very busy here, especially during their annual beer festival. Not all beers are on at the same time, so be warned. There is also a resident dog that likes to lay in front of the toilet entrance. Talking of which, the toilets are not nice on a busy evening. There's no music here so conversation is possible and there is a no smoking area (but get here early to nab a place). Real ale is served here by the plenty. On at the time were: Bath SPA; Uley Old Ric, Old Spot; Coach House Dick Turpin; Northumberland Duke of Northumberland Premium Ale. Food (traditional, good quality) is only served at lunchtimes due to being too busy at night. For the summer there is a beer garden and a public car park across the road. The bus station is at the back too. Access for the disabled is not easy with many nooks and crannies to negotiate. No accommodation here.
