This is a classic country pub down a classic country lane - beware in the deep of winter. It has a friendly single bar with a brick floor and wooden panels which was once an abattoir. Don't let this put you off the food though as it's very good (not available Monday evening as it's quiz night). Food is not available Sunday evening either. Food is available at the following times: 12-2, 7-9 (Mon-Thu), 6.30-9 (Fri/Sat), Sun 2-3. Beers are good, lots to choose from. On at the time were Archers Village, King & Barnes Old Festive plus other guest beers (the landlord has been co-brewer at Cheriton). No accommodation I'm afraid, though you can pitch your tent if you like? There are occasional music festivals held here in summer.

Additional Notes: Great 49er, definitely worth a visit sold on real ale. (Russell Hutton) 18/8/02
