The Hope and Anchor is situated
in the beautiful countryside of the Vale of Clywd. The building is 17th century
in origin, with
beamed ceilings and warm welcoming open fires in winter. This is reflected in
the warm welcome which awaits you if you want real ale and good food in the same
place. Close by is an 18 hole golf course for the energetic with its own driving range. For those
with culture in mind the town is full of history with the ruins of Denbigh castle
looming large over the town - it's a great view and a super picnic spot. Behind the pub is a
beer garden for the summer. In the garden there is a children's adventure playground to keep them happy while you
relax with your favourite tipple. There is accommodation here at
£18.50 per
person a night. They have family rooms, doubles and singles. there is also
plenty of space to park your car, should you wish to leave after trying the good
ales. The Hope and Anchor now has its own web site: www.hopeanchor.com

We didn't
stay at this pub so I can't comment on the food or the accommodation. We
stayed at grotty old hotel in the centre of the town. We went on a mini
walking tour, mid-February of the town and aimed to take in this pub (Hope
& Anchor). We had been told earlier that week that there was no accommodation
so we thought a pint of real ale (as advertised) would be a consolation.
We arrived at the pub at about 7.30pm, mid week. There was no real ale at
all, no welcome fire, no customers, one bar staff and a pint of awful
draft flow. An un interesting little pub that does not match it's description
on this site, beware. (Chris Smith) |
