A warm and welcoming 16th century coaching inn not far from Fordingbridge or Ringwood. There is a small lounge bar divided by a log fire from the good eating area which has booth seating. Other seatig is at light wood tables and chairs. There is a separate locals bar with pool and music. This is a pub for food really as it is Egon Ronay recommended and this is reflected in the price. Someone called it a Gastro Pub and they were probably right. The quality of the food is good and the service is fine, our meal was excellent. For the drinker there are 100 Malt Whiskies, a selection of wine and a good selection of real ale - see box over. For the summer there are gardens and you can hold a function (wedding, etc) there for a price. When you have consumed enough food and beer you can also stray the night - check for latest prices. Well behaved children welcome.
