White Horse
(Kingsbury Road, B76 9DS, Staffordshire) (01675) 470227. This is an Inn Keeping pub just
off the M42 and follows very much the set style inside with pews and large wooden tables,
whitewashed walls and many levels, though there is disabled access. Beers were not
inspiring at the time of visit and were only M&B Brew XI and BASS. The food was a lot
better and was reasonably priced. For example, Soup
of the Day £1.95, Prawn Cocktail £2.95, Poached Salmon & Lemon Vinaigrette Pasta
Salad £6.95, Spinach and Parsnip Pancakes £5.95, Parmesan Basket with Home-Roasted
Mediterranean Vegetables £6.75, Chicken Arrabbiata £6.95, 8oz Rump Steak £7.75, Sirloin
Steak with Mushroom Er Marsala Sauce £8.95. A family pub that welcomes
kids. Has a beer garden and is near the Birmingham and Fazley canal. No accommodation
here.

notes: |
While this pub
is not a regular haunt of mine, I have always found the Bass to be of
excellent quality here. I make this comment from occasional visits over
the past 5 years. Quality of Bass at other pubs I visit can be somewhat of
a lottery. |
