A large town center pub that is now a Wetherspoon, previously a furniture shop. There are two bar areas, both with the usual local history pictures on the walls and books on the walls. The no smoking area is at the rear, and this is where you can usually find a little space as the pub is often crowded with drinkers of all ages. The guest beers are usually Fullers London Pride and Shepherd Neame Spitfire, though there is another guest beer - check both bars as there is often a different one on in each. The food is usual Wetherspoon fayre - great for meat eaters, but not that appetizing for vegetarians to be honest. Good access for the disabled with a disabled toilet and also not far from the tram (George St) or the rail station. No accommodation here.

This pub serves Greene King (Triumph, Abbott, XX) ales including the mild and also has a guest. This is the only Greene King pub in London or the South East that serves GK mild. The landlord is very friendly and the pub is a very comfortable local. A log fire warms in winter and there is seating outside for summer. Near Croydon West station for easy access. Food is served lunch and evening. There is background music but no games machines. Very much a locals pub. No accommodation here.

Royal Standard

Friendly, traditional one-bar pub situated under the Croydon flyover. It has been extended and refurbished by Fullers, who own it, without loss of character, though the garden still remains across the road. Etched glass in its windows still survives too, as does its small serving hatch and the misericords. The Royal serves the full range of Fuller's beers. The royal also serves food both lunch and evenings and comes from the standard menu in the pub chain. Handy for a night out as its close to the tube (Church St), the tram (George St) and rail (East/West). No music here. No accommodation here.
