CRADLEY HEATH.

THERE IS NO LONGER A PUB AT THIS ADDRESS

Red Hen
78 St Anne's Road
off A4100 near five ways
West Mids
(01384) 635494.

What used to be solely a 'Mad O'Rourke's' pub, but was tenanted a few years ago. Famous for its Cradley bangers in sauce, this is where you want to come to get sausages that look and taste like real sausages ought to. If you can walk away from the table after, your friends will be propping you up. The portions are generous and if anyone can eat the all of the pies they deserve a medal. Decorated inside in the spit and sawdust mould it has a pleasant atmosphere and on Thursday evenings they have Irish folk music which you can sing along to. Someone somewhere has been busy with the antique and old objects which festoon the walls - worth a visit in its own right. Some of the walls are tiled and if you are of a nervous disposition then some of the slaughter equipment might not be right up your street. Talking of which, it is not far from the BR station (3 mins walk). Beers on are not of the wide variety though they do have a guest beer policy. Holt Plant & Deakin Entire is the house ale with a changing guest. Food is served night and day and is in the £3.95 - £6 bracket. Alas no accommodation, but if you're in the West Midlands, come and visit.

Additional Notes: It has been reported that the Red Hen is now closed and boarded up. (5/2/01)
Correct this one time pub is now bedsits. (June 2003)
