A very clean and tidy pub - two minutes walk from town centre - still in the process of being done up. Toilets immaculate, bar right in the centre creating a lovely atmosphere. Excellent food available, all cooked fresh off a blackboard price varying between £7 and £10 for mains. The food (served 12-2 and 6-9pm) is very filling - don't have a starter unless your starving. The staff are very friendly and found time to chat. No cigarette smoke to put up with here (smoke extractors fitted) and also the friendly atmosphere, no young drinkers just people talking and having a laugh. Good quality real ales well kept, served by friendly staff. There is a accommodation here. It is of good quality for the price, very comfortable with en-suite facilities.
This is a family run 17th century coaching inn situated within a five minute walk from the historic town centre of Cirencester. It's also the oldest street in town. The bar area has recently been refurbished but remains in its character with exposed original oak beams and Cotswold stone walls. There is a small patio garden at the rear with a ornamental fishpond filled with Coy Carp and Gold Fish. The small off-the-bar restaurant seats 16 guests and the extensive menu incorporates many home made traditional dishes as well as popular cuisine. There is accommodation here: double room £47, single room £39.50 per night. There are four guest rooms all featuring exposed oak beams. The three additional rooms on the ground floor are converted from the original coach entrance & yard. All guest rooms have en-suite facilities, tea & coffee making equipment, colour TV and direct dial telephone.
