This pub has survived many brewery
takeovers and the destruction of interiors to become a real gem of a pub. It has
wood panelling throughout, including some with poems/sayings on it. Real beams
adorn the ceiling and the chairs look like they came out of a school room. The
frontage is stone and gives the impression of a Tudor house. There are three
separate drinking areas - there are rooms upstairs but these are not generally
viewable by the public. These are normally kept for functions and the rooms can
be hired out. Pub games are played here and separate room for pool keeps the
modern away from the traditional. The downstairs has a real fire to keep
it warm and it is always lit in winter. For summer there is outside seating. No
food is served here, which is a pity, but at least the beer was good. On this
ocasino it was Deuchars IPA plus a guest. This pub is not far from the railway
station - turn right - and so attracts people from further afield. no
accommodation here and not so good for disabled access.
