If you like your pubs high on a hill, then this is for you. Situated on the Cardiff side of the mountain this is one of the Vintage Inns. As such it carries a guest ale, on this occasion it was Flannery's Granny Flan. The entrance is on a tight bend on a sub-brow so drive slowly. Inside are low ceilings and beams a plenty. Walls are roughly plastered and there are plenty of nooks and crannies to sit in. Seating is tables and chairs or you can lean at the rather small bar. Service is friendly and efficient. The food follows the pub groups usual fayre and is substantial and generous in portions and price (?5.70 ave). outside there is a car park and a couple of seats. The views are fantastic and Caerphilly castle is not far, as is the joy of Cardiff. Disabled access is limited by space. No accommodation here.
