Taken on by new people in February 2005, this
is a real
homely pub dating back to 1639,
full oak beams and real fire with good old fashioned English food at a
reasonable price and friendly bar staff.
There is a large inglenook fireplace with a real fire and enough seating for
all. Beers: Badger
Beer, Champion, Tanglefoot, Greene King IPA. Food served 12 - 3 and 5 - 10:30
and is excellent. There is accommodation here - two comfortable self-catering
units, both with en-suite double bedrooms. Recently changed owners and had a
refurbishment. Best
thing about the Five Bells is its friendly atmosphere. Worth a Diversion.

| Additional Notes: |
I just want to
concur with the very positive comments on Buriton's Five Bells pub: it is
indeed an excellent spot and well worth the drive off the main road. In
fact, the most pleasant route to take is through the lovely village of
Chaltan where a stop at the Red Lion is not to be missed and then north
along a winding lane part of which runs through Queen Elizabeth Country
Park. This brings you into Buriton just above the pub, so turn right when
you get into the village. The Sunday roasts are generally superb. (Brad
Morley, Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada). |
