You can easily find this
pub as it is nearly opposite the football ground. This is a two roomed pub with a small
lounge area 'L' shaped. Not for the disabled as there are steps into the pub which will
cause difficulty negotiating. The first thing to meet your eyes in the green patterned
carpet and old fashioned tables which completes the 'cottage' theme of this pub, as do the
low ceilings. There is a small bar in the lounge area which can get very busy in the
evenings. The bar in the eating/public area, where there is a tiled floor, is modern brick
and stands out. The walls are heavily artexed too. A step down into this area is
complimented by another step down into the toilets past the computer games machine
(children are not allowed in the pub). Past the toilets is the beer garden with picnic
tables and patio sets. Food is served here though, until 2pm prompt and not on Sunday. The
main beer on was of course the brew-pubs own - Red Cross Nailers OBJ, very nice
with a dry, bitter and slightly fruity taste. They sometimes have a guest on
too, which is unusual as this is a M&B owned pub? This place has lots of
atmosphere and in a locals pub, but does attract its fair share of passing
trade. Fireplaces in both bars are welcoming in the winter. Well worth a
stopover if you are in the neighbourhood and worth a drive if you are not. A
place is set aside for those who wish not to smoke with their beer. No
accommodation here.

| Additional Notes: |
The brewery has since been
closed down and the pub has returned to it's former role |

A traditional Wetherspoons in an old shop
with easy access for the disabled, the beer garden is inaccessible though. Situated on the
High Street it is easily found and opens all day. Food is also served until 10pm every
night (too much garlic in all dishes though latest menu is altering that.) The pub is one
open planned room with a nice rear end - all stained glass ceiling which throws light rays
in the summer. The interior is usual Wetherspoons (why don't they have a variation?). There
isn't much else to say except that they do a guest beer policy (only one on at the time
though) If you like travelling to 'foreign' parts and being at home, then these are your
places of drinking. Worth a visit. No accommodation.
