BRASSINGTON.

A very picturesque village in the middle of nowhere, though very good for walking the peak district of Derbyshire. A difficult place to spot as it is covered in ivy and only has the small original gate sign at one end. Built in 1616 is is a listed building and part of CAMRAs national inventory. Originally a coaching inn on a main route north, it has now drifted into gentle relaxation. There are three area - each with its own real fire and a small serving area surrounded by a flagstone floor main bar. The decor is all old jugs and copper objects and the seating is dark wooden tables and chairs with some high backed benches. The range in the main bar is quite impressive. Food is served all week except Monday evening and is all home cooked. For the summer there is a beer garden to the rear. Access for the disabled is good, though children under 10 are not permitted. A no smoking area compliments the genial atmosphere to be found here. No accommodation here.
