Situated on the A281
south of Guildford. The pub had atmosphere. There was a buz about the place that made you
want to stay. Huge menu, and the food looked really nice. Locals all swore by it, said it
was the best around. Disabled access to the rear, outside terrace seating front and rear
though sadly no garden. Loo's were OK there were fireplaces but fires weren't lit. Staff
were friendly, there was a good mix of people and the music wasn't too loud. A thoroughly
enjoyable night. There was a very wide choice of food. Generous portions but with smaller
things available too. Didn't eat but the service seemed friendly and fast. Price range was
about £3-£12. Food was served lunchtime 12-2, evening 7-9. A great choice of beers and
lagers. Not a lager drinker myself, though it was nice to see some good continental
lagers. Ales were in great condition and reasonably priced for this part of the world. On
at the time were Shepherd Neame Canterbury Jack 4.1% £1.90, Badger Brewery Dorset Best
4.2% £2.10, Hogs Back Tongham TEA 4.1% £2.10, Itchen Valley Godfather 3.8% £2.00, Bass
4.5% £2.20, Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger 5.2% £2.30. Lagers; Czech. Budvar 5.0% £2.60,
Warsteiner 5.0% £2.60, Carling 4.2 £2.20. There is a ccommodation here. Clean, well
decorated rooms. Warm and comfy, would recommend the executive suite to anyone. Superb
full English breakfast in pretty restaurant in morning (served from 8am). Price: En-suite
single £40 double £50 executive suite £80. The best was the friendly atmosphere, good
beer, good food, comfy rooms. Well worth a diversion.
