The only real ale pub in the area and
found in the the Good Beer Guide for 9 years. The Black Lion also has a best
kept cellar cask marque award. And if that was not enough, it was also voted
best the tenanted pub by Manchester's Hydes brewery. The Black Lion is a
traditional village pub with real ales and real coal fires. It serves hot food
all day seven days a week from 12 noon (11.30 Sat) till 11pm (take away
possible). Food is ranged from hot baguettes /cheese burgers/oven chips/toasties/hot
bacon baps/prices from £1.40 to £2 to more substantial meals. There are two good
bars with comfy seating (toilets recently refurbished). The Black Lion has the
river Clywedog running past it and its warm welcome and relaxing atmosphere is
helped along by very friendly staff. Real ales at the pub are provided by Hydes
and there are 10 guest beers every six weeks. Also known as the Hole in the
Wall, due to it being close to Bersham ironworks who made the cannons for
American war of indipendence. Workers made a shortcut to get to the pub.
There is a free fun
QUIZ every Sunday night at 9.15pm followed by a CASH BINGO with SNOWBALL.
