Boreatton Arms (Station Road, near Shrewsbury B4397) (01939) 261412. This is a one of those rare pubs with a non-smoking dining area "Do you mind if I eat with your smoke?" is the usual phrase. It also has a courtesy bus to get you home and yes, they do have a license to do it. It is a modern brick pub with double-glazing and I have to say it is a little garish, but inside is a different matter. It looks a little like a tea shop in the dining area, all frills and table cloths. Food however is served until 9pm and is wholesome and tasty. Jenny and Dave, the owners, do all sorts of food, from lasagne and chips to trout and new potatoes and is well worth seeking out for the food alone. However, this is a freehouse and does guest ales. On at the time were Everards Tiger and Hancock's Best. The single bar area is small and cramped but is cozy and friendly, (though there is a bar area in the restaurant). The Boreatton Arms is close to a staffed rail level-crossing so is easy to find on the map. More recently they have put up an extension due to its popularity. This will become the restaurant and the original bar will be extended to fill the two original rooms. Children are welcome until 9pm if eating, though there isn't an outside play area as yet. This might change in the future though. Wheelchair access is good and will be even better when the extension is opened in September. There is no accommodation here.
