ATHERSTONE.

This pub has been the brewpub of the Warwickshire Beer Company for some time now. It has a couple of rooms and the bar in the middle. The 18th century pub, situated in Market Street on Atherstone’s market square (parking opposite, but very short stay), is an impressive building in almost picturesque surroundings. Opposite is the Angel Inn and to the rear of the square is St. Mary’s Parish Church. The pub is a simple two-roomed hostelry, with a larger bar on entering and a smaller back bar to the rear. The back room is also the entry to narrow rear garden/patio area where they sometimes have beer festivals. Six hand-pulled beers are available every day, all from the Warwickshire Beer company. The prices are keen here and you can even get a discount if you are a CAMRA member. The toilets are OK, but not good for the disabled. Unfortunately there is no food available as this would compliment the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The best about this pub was the real ale of course (which you can get on take out), plus very friendly staff. (Igor)
