This pub has recently gone from a real ale
heaven to a more food oriented pub with a couple of real ales tacked on. The
outside has had a paint job which has made it look very welcoming. Access for
the disabled is possible due to ramp access and there is a disabled toilet. The
inside is very attractive with bright paint and furniture - a mixture of benches
and tables and chairs, with throw cushions. As this was a very old pub, it has
many different rooms that have been knocked through into one more open planned
area. However, there remains free standing walls and screens which add to the
quaintness. The bar is slightly to the right of the entrance and ahead - it is
'L' shaped and quite high, made of bright wood. Chalk boards abound with details
of the food on offer - served both lunch and evening - such as braised leeks
with feta and olive salad £4.95. However, most of the food is more expensive,
even sandwiches are about £4.95-£6.95! However, the food is wonderful of a restaurant
quality and you wont be disappointed. Through a passage to the right there are
the toilets and the restaurant area - a large room where the tables have cloths
and you can imagine silver service waiting going on. This room has a large bay
window overlooking the car park. Talking of which, there is an overspill car
park, which tells you that of an evening it can get very busy for food. The
beers on sale were BASS, Hook Norton Best Bitter and Adnams Bitter. All were
well kept, though measures were substantially under a pint, though they were
happy to fill them up on asking. Outside there is a beer garden with benches and
umbrellas, there are views from this pub over the Vale of Evesham. No
accommodation here.
