This small and quirky pub is about
four miles from Cirencester on the A417. You cant miss the pub, just drive
through the main street and you will see it. It has no brewery or pubCo sign
outside as it is not affiliated to any. The pub from the outside has the
traditional look and feel of a Cotswold pub made from local stone, including the
roof. The inside is divided into two rooms (the corridor has a service hatch).
The main bar which has wood panelling, is to the right. Seating here is a
mixture of benches and window seating around tables. There is no bar as such,
just two handpumps coming out of the wall next to the seating - trust is
obviously a strong element of the clientele here as there is no barrier between
them and the beer! The wood is light and airy on the tiled floor. A fireplace is
here too, as are beams and pictures on the walls. The second room has bench
seating too and a real fireplace, though tables are in short supply. Alas there
is no food, so you must really want a beer alone to stop if passing. However,
there is a bus from Cirencester that stops nearby - the number 77, but it is not
frequent.
There is no lager here on draught and no keg beers at
all, just the two beers mentioned. Well worth a stop if in the area.
