Alnmouth rail station is about 1 mile away from
this lovely pub on the East Coast mainline.
This is a 17th century coaching inn with 4 crowns from the tourist board. There are two
real fires and plenty of interesting history and stories of ghosts - at least two of them
haunt (awarded haunted hotel of the year 1998). situated only 100 yards from the beach, a
river and golf course. The Schooner does great food with a large varied restaurant menu
and all day bar menu. Beers available are the Wychwood Dogs Bollocks, Morland Speckled
Hen, Northumberland Castles, Orkney Skullsplitter, Harviestoun Good King Legless,
Mansfield Four Seasons, Marston's Pedigree. Accommodation here, all en-suite, some with
sea and river views. This place is also listed in the Good Pub Guide as a lucky dip, so
worth a diversion.
