The Old Black Bull

A mock Tudor fronted pub with eight guest beers always available from a changing range.

This is a multi-roomed pub with a single bar that serves them all. The first room to your left as you enter is the sports room as it has a TV in the corner, though there are screens throughout the pub.

The decor is high ceiling and padded high backed settles with round tables and some stools. The bar area is small here but you can be easily seen to get service. The main bar area is through another set of doors. This room with its bare floors and stools at the bar has a lower ceiling and is darker, gloomy almost. You will find the guest ale board here - all at sensible prices.

All beers are served with a tight sparkler, ask if you want proper beer. There are some settees further down the room to the end of the bar and an alcove has a pool table and more seating is available in a room opposite the bar.

There is food here, but only at lunchtime - choices are traditional. There is access for the disabled here and a disabled toilet is available. Close to the station it is just across the ringway from the main shopping street and a Wetherspoon is on the opposite side of the road.

The pub is twice a previous winner of West Lancs Pub of the Year.
