The Gipsy Queen

This pub is a mock Tudor style pub built in 1897, and is currently undergoing renovation with the aid of a grant from Gosport Council. Its a friendly pub run by Lenny and Lucy, and has a lounge and public bar that is mostly used by locals. It is also the 'home' of a R.A.O.B. lodge. Amenities include the usual:- pool table, dartboard, jukebox and fruit machine. It is expected that it will be serving food after the renovation is completed. At present there are only two beers on hand pump, these tend to be form the regionals. You will then come to Kellys Hotel which is on the corner of Gordon Road. Turn right and go down Gordon Road carry on and the Gipsy Queen is on the LHS. If by chance you come from Fareham, then the buses are Nos 7,37 ask for Whitworth Road; by car (limited Parking), follow the A32 into Gosport until you get to the crossroads with the Crown Bingo Hall in front on the right hand side, get in the right hand lane and turn right just past the bingo hall, carry on straight down this road, the Gipsy Queen is on the right hand side. Whitworth Road in Gosport is on a wonderful cycle track. After Sainsbury's, Turn right on Spring Garden Lane, Follow the cycle track to the traffic lights by the Railway Tavern. This is Whitworth Rd. Turn Left to Gipsy Queen. This route also connects to Fareham - why not cycle to a pub! (Dave Williams)
