This pub is easy to find as its right next door to the station, plus it is also next to Safeways so you cant miss it.

To get there, leave the M6 at junction 40, head up the hill towards Penrith. Follow signs for the station, and when you pass it and reach a roundabout, look ahead and it'll be right in front of you.

The service inside this pub is friendly and efficient. The punters are friendly too. On a cold night in January you can meet the local mountain rescue having a pint to warm themselves in front of the real fire.

The real ales were Jennings Mild, Bitter, Cumberland Ale, Snecklifter, plus a guest from another brewery.

Food is served lunch and evening and is very reasonably priced. You can get chips for a similar price as most chip shops sell them for. Plus they appeared within 5 minutes.

If you're coming south from Scotland on the M6 (Junc 40) the pub would be an excellent place to break offering a much more relaxing and friendly atmosphere that motorway service stations can ever provide.

B&B accommodation is available here.

Opening times: Mon-Sat 11-11pm; Sun 12-10.30
