The Black Boy  

This is a Wetherspoons and so has all the usual ingredients, cheap beer and reasonably priced food.

From the outside it is a black and white timbered building with new additions at the rear. Much of the building though is historical and dates from the 17th century.

Inside it is split into three areas. The first by the left of the entrance is booths and table seating with low, dark ceiling. The second to the right of the entrance has a real fire and more comfortable padded chairs and tables. This is a small area and so time will tell if the real fire roasts the poor souls sitting there. The third area is the longer and more open planned where the bar is. There are rows of high tables and chairs here, the addition of button backed chairs and traditional tables compliments this.

They serve up to seven ales plus cider.

The pub has a relaxed atmosphere.
