The Prince Rupert

The Prince Rupert is down from the town square where the Saturday market is held towards the river and castle.

Formerly called the Woolpack this historic building dates back to around 1452 and is one of the town's most characterful pubs. The building was around during the civil war and forms part of the tourist civil war trail.

This is sister pub to The Tobie Norris in Stamford. There are 5 real ales on offer, though not always any from the Ufford Brewery belonging to the owner.

The Prince Rupert serves great homemade food. There is a variety of dishes on offer, including stone baked pizzas (takeaway available). Food is served Monday to Saturday 12-2.30pm and 6-9pm.

The inside is bright and airy and the older sections have been tastefully refurbished. Seating is comfortable and there are plenty of rooms available to find somewhere to sit. You can eat anywhere in the pub.

The small bar area can get full at busy times, but staff are attentive and do their best to serve everyone quickly.

Toilets had a step, so be warned.

Children are welcome if well behaved.

There is no parking on site.

There is occasional live music here.

Well worth seeking out.
