Shovel Inn  

The Shovel is a pub that serves up to 12 real ales. The bar is facing you as you enter as are the handpumps. As they face you it can be a squeeze to get in sometimes as people cannot make a choice from such a range as soon as they enter, but it is always worth it.

There are two areas either side of the bar. To the right is the TV area showing sports. There are seats and tables here and you are of course close to the door to go and see the Real Ale Wall (see picture). You can also access the beer garden from here.

To the left is a more comfortable area with padded seats and traditional dark pub décor. There is a raised area towards the rear with a glowing revolving globe. You can access the toilets this way and the beer garden/wall. Toilets are basic but clean.

Food is served here (Monday to Wednesday 5.30-11, Thursday 5.30-midnight, Friday 5-midnight, Saturday 2.30-midnight, Sunday 12-11. Plus there are specials nights like 'Balti', 'Mexican' and 'Sizzler'. Traditional Sunday lunch is served from 12-4.30pm. Wednesday 6.30-9.30pm is Balti night.

Within walking distance of Lye rail station and the number 9 bus stops at the top of the road. Worth stopping off, especially if visiting the Windsor Castle as well to make an evening of it.
