Fox Inn

This pub is the first one you come to after leaving the motorway junction and heading into Lutterworth.

It looks quite large from the outside, but once inside you get a traditional cosy feel. A refurbishment means that there is now laminate flooring throughout. You enter from the middle side and immediately face a large pillar that splits the bar (stools are available here). On the pillar you will find blackboards informing you of food or music or both.

The seating area to the left is more public bar than anything with a bench seat and small round tables. The toilets can also be found here. Most of the hand pumps are on the bar area here too.

Four ales on at the time (see box), all were served well, with or without sparkler. At least two of the beers on at the visit were guests.

The seating area to the right of the pillar is more comfortable with square wood tables of varying sizes and chairs (occasional bench). In one corner there is a small screened off area with a table for two. It would be snug and secretive if it wasn't by the window facing the main drag into Lutterworth.

Food is served till 9pm, even on Saturdays, though call first to check. Options tend to be traditional and on this occasion there was nothing for vegetarians, though they made a plate of salad and chips on request. Prices are average for the area. For the summer there is a large garden (for winter real fires) and they also have a function room for hire.

No accommodation here.

Comments

There are no fruit machines here anymore and the ladies toilets are small, but clean and well presented - and also warm as they have a radiator with towels! It has laminate flooring throughout now with 2 open fires and an extremely pleasant garden which has just been completed with bench/tables and umbrellas.?I would definitely recommend this place. It is also Biker Friendly as we have a bike meet there every other Thursday but Dexter the owner welcomes bikers at any time. (April 2004)
