Watermans Arms

This pub is down a side street that leads to the river. You would miss it if you were just shopping in Richmond. It's worth seeking out though as it has a charm all of its own. It is opposite the small cinema and is great for a pre-film drink.

As a Young's pub it serves their beers only, but they are well kept and served (even if a top up is usually required). There are no continental beers here, though there is a basic selection of wine.

Food is served here all day until 10pm and it is Thai, which is a welcome change from pub grub. Not tried on this occasion as the cook was out shopping. However, you cant go wrong with Thai food. There is a good selection of choices, including vegetarian ones. Prices were surprisingly fair given that this is Richmond.

There is live music here on a Monday night with the folk club meeting upstairs.

For the summer there are picnic benches out front and to the side. These are on the street, but it is a welcome break from being indoors.

The interior is traditional and the two rooms are small and compact, but feel friendly. There is a heavyness with the traditional décor and the size, but the locals make you feel right at home.

Not far from Richmond station/tube.

Well worth a stop off.
