Dog and Bell

If you ever go to Deptford, and there is no real reason why you should, then visit this pub.

The Dog & Bell is a very well presented pub that has a regular clientèle of real ale drinkers - it even doubles up as a local art gallery and some of the art on its walls go for £1000 or more!

They serve three guest ales plus a couple from Fullers. But even better, is that they serve about 20 different Belgian beers from the fridge. Unfortunately there is no list so you either have to know the labels or guess as the staff are not very knowledgeable. That said service is friendly and there is a relaxed atmosphere.

This is split level pub and you need to negotiate a step for the toilets. In the raised area there is a bar billiards table next to the toilets. For the summer there is a terrace for sunny days.

Food is served here lunch and evenings with a standard menu for a pub. Food is wholesome and certainly fills a gap.

A long walk from the tube, take bus 188 from the Cutty Sark Tube station and get off before Edward Street.
