The Bell Inn
One of the Ember Inns pubs, but not a bad pub at that. On the main Birmingham to Walsall road past the M6 and the Holiday Inn. Refurbished in 2000/2001, it is now a single room round a central bar, though they have kept some walls and turned others into open spaces, i.e. with hatches for art objects to sit. This has meant it keeps its cosy atmosphere for both conversation and secret liaisons. The furniture is all modern with some round and square tables and chairs, but there are high chairs and tables and soft furnishing from the IKEA school of decor. It is all very light and airy without being too bright. The main part of the bar is opposite you as you enter and here is where you will find the usual three guest ales. The beer was served nicely, and they take the sparkler off too. Prices were good especially as it's the main pub in the area. The food served here (12-8pm) is not so traditional pub food as they do noodles and different types of fish. All meals were keenly priced and the portions were acceptable too. Plenty of choice for all, including children and vegetarians. Well worth a visit before you get back on the motorway. No accommodation here. There is also a non smoking section of the dining area. Access for the Disabled is good and there are good toilet facilities. For the summer there is a there is a patio with outdoor s eating, though it overlooks the car park and road.
