The Woolpack Inn  

This is sprawling pub close to Hardknott Pass in Eskdale. It is also close to the Ravenglass railway.

There is plenty of car parking space here and plenty of walking close by.

They serve up to six real ales, sometimes five. All are well kept, but seem to have London prices. They also do a real Cumbrian cider.

You can enjoy the ales in one of the two bar areas. The first is the old bar with its corner bar and wood paneling and bench seating along one wall. In winter it can be droughty as the windows are old, but don't let that put you off as it's all part of the charm.

The second bar area is newer and bigger with a high ceiling and a real fire and sofas. There are plenty of cosy corners. There are smaller tables for couples or families, with bigger tables dotted throughout for groups of friends to congregate. The toilets are through here well.

There is also a games room with pool table and free wifi throughout.

Food is served here both lunch and evening and you can eat in either bar or the Dining Room, when it is open. They serve traditional gastro food, but also do pizza.

For the summer months there is a beer garden and a large children’s play area.

Dogs are welcome in the bar area.
