The Abbey Inn

The Abbey Inn is named after the Byland Abbey, which is opposite. The Inn itself is steeped in history with evidence of a medieval hostelry under the foundations and the beautiful stonework was ‘borrowed’ from the ruins of Byland Abbey. Once a 19th century farmhouse, the Inn has recently been refurbished.

They serve two guest ales here.

Food is served most of the day and starts with morning coffee 10-12, then food from 12-6 before the A La Carte 6-9.30pm (7pm on Sundays). You can also eat A La Carte for lunch 12-2.30pm, but you must book in advance. On Mondays no dinner is served. Catch the worm by getting in early and you could get a discount - 6pm (bookings only) 25% off all food.

This is really adults only territory as the food is gastro and the atmosphere relaxed.
