Town Wall Tavern

When Coventry was destroyed for a second time by the town planners, this pub was all that remained in this area of Coventry.

Not far from the Belgrade Theatre, the Town Wall is a traditional local with three distinct areas. To the left the main bar area with brick walls and nik naks on the walls, the lounge bar - with servery hatch to the right with carpet and a long thin profile leading to the 'beer garden' at the rear.

Then there is the 'Donkey Box', slap bang in the middle. This small room with a single stool has a leaning cushion all around the wall. The bar area here is good, better than the lounge. The walls are covered with notices that make it a real local plus the Donkey Room food club trip to France. A bare floor is complimented by the hand pulls on the bar and the closeness of the bar back makes you want to serve yourself.

The beers were well served and came from Adnams plus a couple of guests from regionals/nationals. Table service is sometimes offered on a Saturday night. A real cider is available too.

Food is served here at lunchtimes only 12-3 and is basic. However, the rolls/bread is baked in the landlord's own bakery and on this visit was selling like hot cakes.

Close-ish to the station, you will need to leave 10 minutes to walk there.
