The Crossways

A freehouse in the beautiful Surrey countryside. This real stockbroker belt country with a direct route into London and the prices in this pub match the wage packets with beer at £2.70 a pint for a medium gravity beer - what happened to local delivery from the micro's? The pub itself is small and compact with two bar areas - one public, one saloon. The public bar is accessed at the corner by the car park and the serving hatch is to the right as you walk towards the toilets. The floor is bare and there are some dark wood tables and chairs plus stools. Old bits and bobs on the walls give it a local feel/flavour. You can walk through to the saloon/lounge bar through an archway and here is the main bar with stools at it. There is an overhang for glasses and the beer can be seen behind the bar in cooled barrels, though they still go to the cellar to get your beer from the barrel direct if it is one of those not on the pumps. They also serve 4 real ciders and a couple of bottle beers. Food is served here at lunchtimes only - check for weekend times (not Sunday). It is wholesome and home-made, though again with prices to match. For the summer there is a garden area with children's area. Worth a stop off though high prices make it a quick one.
