The Ship in Distress  

The Ship in Distress is known for its seafood menu choices with freshly caught fish.

This traditional village pub looks very sweet and friendly 'local'. It is situated on the edge of town, within walking distance of the harbour. No wonder it once hosted Christchurch's smugglers.

A nautical theme runs throughout, with memorabilia covering the walls of the bar adding to its character and warmth.

For the winter there is a real fire and the summer is the time for alfresco dining. There is also a cosy restaurant with candlelit tables. The menu frequently changes, but has a bias towards fish, naturally. There are some vegetarian choices. Food is served 12-4 and 6-9pm.

There is space for private parties.

Outside there is a covered and heated smoking area.
