Langley Hall Inn

A really smart looking building on the road down towards Newbury - the A34 bypasses the pub and it is South of the village.

The pub takes its name from a long demolished manor nearby, but still retains some of the elegance of the history about it inside.

The décor is light and airy and has a country bistro feel about it - very pleasant. The horseshoe bar faces you on entrance and is quite high. They serve two to three real ales; one of them is always the West Berkshire Good Old Boy. The other guest ales are always chosen with care from micros or regionals. The floor is flagged in places and there is a real fire to warm by in winter.

Langley Hall serves food with an imaginative bent to it. Of course it is not cheap, but the food (ranging from full cooked meals to baguettes) is well prepared and you get your monies worth. The adjacent restaurant is very popular with business people so its worth booking - though note there is no food on Sunday evenings. Food is served Monday to Saturday 12-2pm and 6.30-9pm, Sunday 12-3.

In the summer you can sit out on the patio or in the garden and enjoy the warmth under a brolly or exposed - you choose.

There is accommodation here - not seen on this occasion - which offers en-suite rooms and breakfast on the patio in summer.

The one thing that detracts from the pub is the loud piped music of a late evening. Otherwise we recommend a stop off here.
