Shoulder of Mutton

This is Bournemouth's third oldest pub (has been one since 1805), situated near Bear Cross and quite a way from the centre.

Facing a dual carriageway you could be forgiven for missing this place, as there seems no easy way to get to it, particularly on a Saturday when the traffic coming off the dual carriageway is horrendous. From the outside, the pub appears a little rundown, but the inside is still a gem with 200-year-old flagstone floor and a one hundred year old shove ha?ppeny board.

The best bit about the Shoulder is that the beer range changes regularly and there is always an interesting beer on tap.

There is no food served here and just one regular beer Flowers Original, but there are a couple of guest ales. For the summer there is a beer garden plus a children?s play area. Sunday night is quiz night.

No accommodation here.
